Exhibition Extended Due to Popular Demand

ACN RAMSES THE GREAT AND THE GOLD OF THE PHARAOHS

Exhibition Extended Until Sunday, January 4, 2026

The Executive Committee of Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs and NEON JAPAN, Inc. (President & CEO: We Chee Shiong, hereinafter “NEON JAPAN”) are pleased to announce that, due to overwhelming popularity, the special exhibition ACN Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs — currently being held at the “Ramses Museum at CREVIA BASE Tokyo” (in front of Toyosu Market, Tokyo) and showcasing approximately 180 priceless treasures from the era of Ramses II, celebrated as the “Greatest King in Egyptian History” — will be extended until its final run on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

This exhibition, officially endorsed by the Government of Egypt, is one of the largest exhibitions ever dedicated to Ancient Egypt. With the special support of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, it showcases priceless treasures of immense historical and cultural value.
Having toured 5 cities worldwide and attracting more than two million visitors to date, Tokyo marks the 6th stop and the first-ever presentation in Asia.

Since its opening, the exhibition has welcomed large numbers of visitors every day, surpassing 250,000 attendees. Responding to strong demand from the public to keep the exhibition open through the year-end and New Year period, the run has now been extended.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness the legacy of Ramses II—celebrated as the “Greatest of Kings”—and a spectacular collection of ancient Egyptian treasures, including pieces being unveiled in Japan for the very first time.

“The Grand Egyptian Museum, supported by Japan, is also set to open this year. Egypt’s history is expected to attract even greater attention going forward.”

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), scheduled to open on Saturday, November 1, 2025, near Cairo, will be one of the world’s largest archaeological museums dedicated to Ancient Egyptian civilization. Japan has provided both financial and technical support for its establishment.

With the opening of this museum, global attention on Egypt’s history is expected to grow even further. Against this backdrop, the exhibition “ACN Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs” offers a truly rare opportunity to witness invaluable treasures brought directly from Egypt.

 About Ramses II

Ramses II ruled Egypt for an unprecedented 67 years, the longest reign in ancient Egyptian history, and is celebrated as the “Greatest King” of Egypt. Said to have lived to the age of 92, Ramses II became a symbol of the power and wealth of Ancient Egypt during the New Kingdom, the civilization’s golden age.

He is remembered as a formidable warrior who secured peace with neighboring nations, and as a visionary builder who commissioned countless monumental structures, including colossal statues of himself. Remarkably, it is also believed that he fathered more than 100 children during his lifetime.

Highlight Exhibit: Ramses II’s Sarcophagus — First Ever in Japan

One of the major highlights of this exhibition is the Sarcophagus of Ramses II, crafted from Lebanese cedar. It is extremely rare for both the sarcophagus body and its lid to be displayed together. With the special cooperation of the Egyptian government, this priceless treasure was loaned outside of Egypt for the first time in 47 years for the Paris exhibition in 2023, as part of the global tour.

In addition, the exhibition also features works being shown outside of Egypt for the very first time, including the Upper Part of the Colossal Statue of Ramses II, the Head of the Colossal Statue of Ramses II, and the Kneeling Statue of Ramses II Offering a Hieroglyph of His Name. This marks an unprecedented opportunity to see these remarkable artifacts gathered in one place.

VR × Ancient Egypt: Reliving the Past Through an Immersive Experience

In addition to its remarkable artifacts, the exhibition also features cutting-edge “experiential content” powered by the latest VR technology and projection mapping.
One of the highlights is a VR journey through the Abu Simbel Temples—the most famous structures commissioned by Ramses the Great—and the tomb of his beloved wife, Nefertari.

This immersive VR experience follows a narrative in which Queen Nefertari guides visitors on her journey to the afterlife, to be reunited with her husband. Along the way, she tells the story of how Ramses II transformed Egypt as a general, architect, and guardian of ancient Egyptian religion.
With the use of specially designed motion chairs, visitors can soar through temples and sandstorms, culminating in a breathtaking encounter with Ramses the Great himself.

Please note: The VR experience requires an additional fee separate from the exhibition admission ticket.
