New exhibition is due to open at Boca Raton Museum of Art next month

Cityneon, a global experience entertainment company, is celebrating the premiere of a unique new exhibition, Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru, which opens at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in South Florida this October.

This will be Cityneon’s first foray into the world of artefacts IP and features the largest Andean gold collection ever to travel the world, together with a brand new immersive and interactive VR experience. The company was given exclusive approval by the government of Peru to fly drones through the UNESCO World Heritage site and harnessed cutting edge Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology to create a one-of-a-kind virtual walkthrough experience.

A unique virtual experience

A visit to Machu Picchu is on many people’s bucket lists. However, less than 1 million people are allowed entry to the site each year in order to preserve it. In the wake of the pandemic, this number has further lowered to 250,000, to keep to social distancing guidelines. Now, thanks to Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru, people from around the globe can experience this heritage site virtually.

Guests will enjoy a virtual walkthrough, which uses VR motion chairs equipped with multi-sensory features like high-resolution 6-DOF VR headsets, haptic feedback, scent dispersers, and unlimited 360-degree resolution. They will journey through time alongside the mythical hero Ai Apaec.

Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru will also showcase 192 artefacts from royal tombs, some of which have never been exhibited as part of a travelling exhibition, or seen outside of Peru. For instance, visitors can view the fully intact gold attire of a Chimú Emperor, dating to 1300 AD.

Bringing rare artefacts to new audiences

Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru is made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Peruvian Government, as well as close collaboration with Cityneon’s valued partners, the Museo Larco and Inkaterra Asociación, the World Heritage Exhibitions, and the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

In addition to the launch of the Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru experience in the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the group is also working round the clock for the opening of another artefacts IP experience, Ramses The Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs, which is set to welcome visitors this November at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
